John Trama Joins The River Lacrosse Program as Assistant Coach

Spanish River High School Boys’ Lacrosse is humbled and honored that Jon Trama has agreed to join the program as the new assistant coach. Coach Trama will serve under Head Coach Dan Schaffer.

He played lacrosse throughout high school and went on to play in college at Farmingdale State University on Long Island for one year, and at Briarcliffe College for three years. Trama was an Academic All-American and named to the Second Team All-Conference Attack his senior year.

Due to his experience, Coach Trama has become rich in lacrosse IQ and performance skills. As an attackman, Trama engages players with hands-on decision making skills as well as physical training. One main goal Trama plans to accomplish within the season is to increase the number of goals per game.

Coach Trama coaches Spanish River for the pure enjoyment and passion of the game. He has great confidence in this year’s team. “I believe that we are going to have a great season, even better than last year,” said Trama. “Our Defense is solid and our offense keeps improving…I believe we could make it up to 7-10 goals per game if we really work at it.”

Coach Trama grew up on Long Island, New York, and has been fond of the game of lacrosse ever since the age of 12 years old. He was first introduced to lacrosse by his older cousin Mike, who acted as an influential role model, and brother in his life.

Professionally, Coach Trama is a Broadcast Tech and Operations Manager having been part of many different types of productions.
